Welcome
Introduction to the American government.
|
Our Founding Fathers wanted to create a government that did not allow any one person too much power or authority over another. With this in mind, our Founding Fathers created the United States Constitution in an effort to provide a separation of powers. Three branches of government were created to have different responsibilities and work together to ensure that the rights of all citizens are not ignored or barred (Ben’s Guide to U.S. Government, 2009). The three branches of government are the legislative branch, executive branch, and the judicial branch. According to Kids.gov (2015), each branch of government is held accountable for doing one of the following: making laws (Congress), carrying out the laws (President, Vice President, Cabinet), and evaluating laws (Supreme Court and other courts). Together, each branch of government protects our citizens and ensures that everyone is treated equally and their rights are protected.
